Return to Stapleford quarry

Went to the quarry just south of Cambridge a month ago during the last hot spell and was disappointed to find all the settling ponds had been dredged and refilled with water. Had another look this weekend and was excited to see the first settling pond was now full of mud. On the off-chance, I'd taken along my Bullseye waders and camo gear, as in this profile pic  but with the sleeves rolled up. The mud turned out to be the softest, creamiest liquid mud I've ever encountered - I was quickly down to the top of my waders, then I flooded them and continued sinking, with the mud seeping inside my trousers and shirt, until I was floating armpit deep, completely covered inside and out up to my neck.
